Introduction of .xxx as a new Top Level Domain (TLD), designed for the 'online adult entertainment industry'.
.xxx domain names will soon be launched for registration with ICM Registry. Although the .xxx domain names are targeted at the adult industry, the introduction of .xxx will allow trademark owners, operating outside the adult industry, to safeguard their trademarks in .xxx.
Sunrise A:
With the new .xxx TLD any individuals, businesses or entities which are a member of the adult industry can register an .xxx domain name. This can be done during Sunrise A.
Sunrise B:
Existing trademark owners and other IP holders who wants to ensure their (trademark) names are not registered as domain names by others in .XXX can apply to opt-out for a period of 10 years. This can be done during Sunrise B. With this registration you will not get the ownership of this domain name. The corresponding domain name will resolve to a standard informational page indicating the status of the domain name as not available for registration or similar.
The Sunrise period will run for 52 days starting September 7, 2011
