A dress to impress

American fashion label Halston claims that Calvin Klein has violated its copyright by copying three designs for dresses.

Everything revolves around three dresses of which Halston stated that Calvin Klein has copied them indiscriminately. It concerns a black knee-height dress and two evening gowns.

“It is clear that the elements, materials, movement, composition, colors, layers, general appearance and the structure of the dresses by Calvin Klein are similarly and confusingly similar and even identical”, the indictment states.

Halston is particularly furious about Calvin Klein’s statement that it concerns original designs. The fashion label emphasizes it is clear that its copyright has been infringed upon, and now seeks €150,000 in damages per infringement.
