Ale Yeah!

Ale yeahA Decatur craft-beer store has become the target of a trademark lawsuit.

Beer always makes for excellent trademark law suits.

North Carolina based LMR Restaurants filed a lawsuit this month against Ale Yeah! (pun alert: “Hell yeah!”), claiming the company is improperly using LMR’s trademark Ale Yeah!.

“Despite receiving LMR’s letter advising them of LMR’s rights, Defendants Villa and Holley refused to stop using the ALE YEAH! mark,” the lawsuit says.

Ale Yeah! has begun to fight back on social media like  Twitter, calling the company a “bully.”

A very distinctive name for a beer, and also quite funny. It seems the odds are in LMR’s favour, although you should never underestimate the power of social media in these cases.

Cheers!
