Chairs in, garbage out

Louis Vuitton is known for their luxury products decorated with beige / brown patterns. As a luxury brand you will fight against every copycat or counterfeit in order to protect your reputation. Probably the reason that Louis Vuitton has sent a cease and desist letter to a local hair salon in Hong Kong to cease the use of the mark. Moreover Louis Vuitton claims substantial damages and a rectification in a newspaper. A hair salon? Well, customers could sit on reclining chairs in the hair salon, chairs covered with a motif that resemble the famous Louis Vuitton pattern.

The owner, Shau Kei Wan, was not aware of the fact that he had bought chairs with a famous patron, he had bought them from a Chinese furniture shop. The owner hopes that Louis Vuitton will agree with a lower compensation. And the chairs? These are thrown away with the garbage.
