A logo change if normally decided by marketing or the Board of Directors. But if you are a football club, who better than to decide over the new club crest than the fans.
Premier League football club Manchester City has been consulting with fans over the redesign of club badge.
“City” have had three major badges since the 1930s and adopted their current crest in 1997, after their old design was ineligible for registration as a trademark. Fans will be asked to fill out a questionnaire with a dedicated consultation space and exhibition being set up at the Etihad Stadium for the next four weeks.
Ferran Soriano, City’s chief executive said: “The badge is the most visual representation of Manchester City and is so central to our heritage. We are looking for our fans to share their views as to what they consider to be the most authentic symbols of the club.”
A club can be bought by any wealthy man, but in the end the club belongs to the fans.
