In yesterday’s post we wrote about the Disney princesses being fashion cover models. Today, a different perspective.
When you have children, especially girls, they grow up with the stories of Disney, where ordinary girls meet princes, or even frogs that, upon kissing, luckily turn out to be princes, and live happily ever after.
But what if there were no ‘happily ever after’? What if the “Disney princesses” live ordinary, everyday lives?
Dina Goldstein is a photographer that was inspired by that idea. Female Disney characters are placed a scenarios that are, as Golstein puts it, “a realistic outcome and addresses current issues”.
Snow White is now a mother of four, with a lazy tv-watching prince, living of a very low income. Rapunzel is terminally ill and wears a wig now. And Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, has lost her “belle” and undergoes plastic surgery in an attempt to conserve her beauty.
