Coffee chain Fuckoffee received a letter from the UK Intellectual Property Office, refusing an application to trademark its risqué brand name. The London coffee shop was also ordered by the landlord’s lawyers to remove its “offensive” signage.
The company responded by tweeting a photo of a letter it says it received from the UK Intellectual Property Office. The letter states that registration of the mark has been refused for being offensive to the general public.
The owners continued the discussion by claiming to attempt a new trademark application for a F*ckoffee instead. It is quite rare that trademark offices refuse trademarks based on the fact that they are offensive. Some examples from the past: JUST FUCKING, KUNT, TINY PENIS, DICK & FANNY, but also CORAN, MESSIAS, DALAILAMA and URBI ET ORB.
