The makers of the new US hit series Empire are being sued by a gangster who claims that the script is based on his life story.
Empire is an American musical drama television series which debuted on Fox in January this year. The show centers around a hip hop music and entertainment company, Empire Entertainment, and the drama among the members of the founders’ family as they fight for control of the company.
According to Ron Newt, Empire is more or less a copy of the documentary Bigger Than Big he made about his own life.
The man who claims to be friends with the family of Michael Jackson, describes himself as a “gangster, pimp and drug dealer.” He states that he has even discussed his documentary with Terrence Howard, who plays one of the lead roles in Empire. Terrence would have said, like to play the role of Ron there was a film version made.
Newt is modest in his claims though: he demands a mere billion dollars (943 million euros) in damages. Some damage to his life, that is!
