Getting tyred?

Tyre manufacturer Bridgestone has won an important law suit against Chinese tyre maker Guangzhou Bolex Tyre Ltd. The Chinese manufacturer sold tyres under the brand name ‘Gemstone’.

It al started back in 2010 when Bridgestone noticed the similar name. But it was not only the name that attracted the attention: the font and colors used in the Gemstone logo also closely resemble Bridgestone’s trademark.

Is this the end? Well, maybe for Bridgestone – after almost three years – it is. But how about Rolex? The name of the Chinese manufacturer is Guangzhou Bolex Tyre Ltd, and it still sells tyres under the trademark ‘Bolex’.

At least MarkMatters.com is not getting ‘tyred’ of these cases.

Have a nice weekend!
