While the rumor of a Beatles reunion at the Olympic Games next year is big news, Yoko Ono probably wanted to have her share of the news. The way she’s doing this is something one can argue about: Yoko Ono has threatened a local bar called Lennons in Dundee, Scotland with legal action.
This bar is dedicated to her late husband John Lennon. Mike Craig, owner of the bar, invested big money on memorabilia for his Beatles-themed bar. As a true Beatles-lover, he was amazed to receive a letter from Ono’s lawyers accusing him of trademark and copyright infringement. He has been told to change the name of the venue and to remove all memorabilia within 14 days.
While MarkMatters.com thinks this could be an interesting IP matter (we wonder whether the Dundee audience will really think that the bar is an official-Yoko-Ono-proof-original-John-Lennon-venue), Mike Craig has announced to remove the signs.
