Anheuser-Busch Inbev is facing a rather awkward trademark case. It started with a Youtube advertising for their trademark Bud Light. The story of this advertising was to watch what happens when you ask someone to hold your beer. This was also the literal text of the dialogue …”hold my beer and watch this”….
Trademark infringement according to Big Sky Brewing Co. This company has registered the trademark Hold my beer and watch this in the United States and uses this phrase to promote their beer.
Well, it seems a bit hard to believe that a sole sentence in a dialogue will be perceived as a trademark or will constitute a link with Big Sky Brewing Co. If so, it might be the end of using language in a commercial and the start of lots of beeps: I am (beep) eating an apple (beep).
