Probably the whole world is now watching the new episodes of House of Cards. And probably the whole world knows that you should not get into a fight with Frank Underwood. And certainly not with his wife Claire Underwood. They operate relentlessly to succeed in their goal: maintaining their power. Nevertheless the company D2 Holdings from Massachusetts has started a court action against the producer of House of Cards based on infringement of their trademark rights on HOUSE OF CARDS. This trademark of D2 Holdings is registered in the US for entertainment services. Currently, the trademark seems in use for a radio station on the games industry. Will the trademark HOUSE OF CARDS collapse? Or will the famous House of Cards title have to change? Most of times these kind of matters are settled silently, but this just emphasizes the need for good availability searches before using or registering a trademark.
