All major brand have ways of verifying if a product is genuine or if it is counterfeit. This ranges from visible features, but also security features that are not visible.
This way a trademark owner or local customs – in case of a seizure – can distinguish real from fake.
But there is another way: testing the quality. Often the counterfeit product is of a lesser quality.
In case of the famous Model 3107 chair by Arne Jacobsen a simple test can be conducted: lay the chair face down on the floor and jump on it.
If it’s fake, it breaks.
