Jumbo – the supermarkets

With internet and social media the world is turned into one big marketplace. On the other hand, trademark registration and protection remain a local thing: this should be arranged per country or region, with cost-effective solutions such as the International registration at hand.

As there is no such thing as a worldwide registration, the situation sometimes occurs that identical marks for identical products or services appear, happily co-existing as these marks are registered and used for different countries.

Like Jumbo. This name suggests something big and seems to be a perfect name of a supermarket. In South America. In Portugal. And in Holland. By three different owners.
