Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermès and Birkin, all victims of the counterfeit bags flooding the market. Fake is getting harder and harder to spot. So if you are a fashionista looking for a bargain, it can be quite scary: am I buying the real thing?
The Wall Street Journal is giving you some very handy tips in spotting the ugly duckling between the swans. Check the stitching for instance: does is look even: FAKE! The real designer bags are hand stitched. Another tip, rub the chain straps together. Doesn’t it sound like solid metal: FAKE!!
Although the materials of the counterfeit bags are getting better and better, it is mostly the lesser quality of the used materials and fabrics that give it away. Doesn’t your Chanel bag feel like a newborn lamb to your cheek, then it is probably made out of waxed plastic. A definite no-no for your shopping trip.
