After one year of Trump’s presidency, America is divided in Trump-haters and Trump-lovers. We can, however, say that Trump caused a flood of new applications. Interestingly, the division in the political landscape in America is also reflected in the trademark register. For example, there are applications from critics:
“YOU CAN NOT BE BOTH, A TRUMP SUPPORTER AND A BELIEVER IN ME.” -GOD
SON OF A TRUMP (probably not intended to be positive)
TRUMP SO RUSSIAN
SAVE AMERICA DUMP TRUMP
TRUMP’S LAST DAY
DROP THE BOMB ON TRUMP
In minority, there are also some supporters who file Trump applications, such as:
And in the EU: SUPERTRUMP for clothes.
Can you just claim the name of a famous person as a trademark? Apart from the earlier TRUMP trademarks, which may form an obstacle, the full name Donald Trump or any other famous person will in most cases be considered as an application in bad faith (at least in the EU). The name Trump alone would be an interesting matter as trump is an existing English word. Like in the case here.
