Monkey business

This story has been buzzing for several time now, but has meanwhile grown to great proportions.

What happened is this: David Slater is a great photographer who visited a national park in Indonesia. At one point a monkey took Slater’s camera a ran away with it, taking hundreds of photographs.

IP lawyers and photographers were kidding around on the different social media and raised the question: who has the copyright to the photographs? The monkey perhaps?

These jokes became serious when Caters News Agency claimed to have acquired the copyrights to the photos and demanded that another website, Techdirt, remove the photos from their site.

Monkey with copyrights? What do you think?
