The Easter Bunny, a sweet symbol of Easter. But also the subject of a long trademark dispute in Europe! To be clear: the dispute concerns the chocolate bunny, very popular in especially countries like Germany and Austria.
The dispute is between Lindt and Hauswirth. Lindt has made several attempts to claim the shape of the bunny. But in vain. A final attempt concerned the shape of the bunny with Lindt on it. This 3D mark has been accepted (because of the word Lindt) but then a cancellation was filed. Nevertheless, Lindt was successful in attacking Hauswirth in Austria.
Time for a new chapter in this saga: Hauswirth tries her luck and has recently filed a 3D mark of its bunny (left) in the European Union. Will this bunny be accepted?
