Today in 1978 host country Argentina beat the Dutch national soccer team in the World Cup final, in extra time, with 3-1. It was the second World Cup final for the Dutch squad: they lost to Germany in 1974.
“Oranje” (“The Orange”) had an amazing team, with, amongst otters, attackers Johan Cruijff, Sjaak Swart, Piet Keizer and Klaas Nuninga.
The famous Dutch photographer Paul Huf took a legendary picture of the four soccer stars.
Because it is “Counterfeit-day”, we also show you some of the photographs that were “inspired” by Huf’s amazing photo.
