The law on tobacco advertising is very strict. Tobacco brands are not allowed to advertise. Neither directly nor indirectly, e.g. through sponsorships (Drum Festival, Camel Trophy, etc.).
Dutch Cinema “Het Ketelhuis” has started an advertisement campaign for her cinema and Dutch film. The poster is a parody on the Lucky Strike cigarette packaging. For this, they were fined.
In court the fine was cancelled, but the decision was appealed by the Dutch Ministry of Health. In appeal Het Ketelhuis won again. And MarkMatters.com is glad they did. This is clearly a parody and is in no way intended to be an advertisement for cigarettes in general, or Lucky Strike in particular.
