The Death Star is a fictional spacecraft and super weapon appearing in the Star Wars science-fiction series. It is capable of destroying an entire planet with its powerful superlaser. And now, it’s a game.
We love Star Wars. And where Star Wars meets IP we are extra excited.
In December last year the trademark TINY DEATH STAR was registered in the US. Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC successfully filed an application for the name for ‘ccomputer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones, personal digital assistants, electronic organizers, electronic notepads, handheld computers, and portable and handheld digital electronic devices; downloadable computer game software; downloadable electronic games via the Internet and wireless devices; computer game software downloadable from a global computer network‘.
The TINY DEATH STAR game was already a hit in the Apple AppStore, until Disney decided to remove the title, without alerting the users. Perhaps the trademark registration hints that the game is coming back.
Until then, at least the name is protected. Or as Yoda would have said: “Register a trademark, you must”.
