In the United States the name Tomorrowland is registered as a trademark by Disney. In America the Belgian dance festival recently had to look for another name. Instead of Tomorrowland they chose Tomorrow World. However, this time Disney is getting the short end of the stick.
“Tomorrowland has become a world festival”, so states Debby Wilmsen, spokesperson for the festival. “We noted at the launch of the trailer of the Disney movie that some people were confused. Some people thought that there was a film about the festival. It is good that people now know clearly that the Disney film is not about the festival.”
Perhaps both parties can have lunch somewhere and discuss a solution, where both Disney and Tomorrowland can use the names they want, without a very costly rebranding project.
