Time for a trip down memory lane. If you hear the word Unplugged you probably think of the legendary series of acoustic concerts of MTV back in the nineties. Especially rock bands put their electric guitars aside and trade them in for acoustic guitars. This resulted in beautiful musical moments with Nirvana as one of the highlights.
Also at that time was the rise of the Hard Rock cafe (in Europe). In each city there was a cafe with the logo of the Hard Rock cafe and the city name here under. A fine example of a collectors item!
The Hard Rock Cafe still exists, MTV Unplugged launched new series in 2005. However, the concept Unplugged is still popular. Probably reason for the Hard Rock Cafe to organize Unplugged concerts.
But is Unplugged a distinctive trademark for entertainment services? No, says EUIPO. The application of the word Unplugged is rejected by the EUIPO. Probably EUIPO is of the opinion that this is a general word which must be used freely by anyone.
