A British ukulele group has lost its ukulele trademark infringement battle against a ukulele rival over its ukulele group name. That’s a lot of ukulele!
The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (UOGB) have claimed their reputation could be tarnished by a rival group from Germany, confusingly enough named United Kingdom Ukulele Orchestra (UKUO). Both orchestras perform contemporary pop songs with a ukulele twist. Before the upcoming of the UKUO the UOGB sought an injunction.
The Court ruled, however, that there was no competition and that the UKUO had been performing in Germany for some years now. The UOGB should have acted sooner.
So, it now seems the battle of the ukuleles will be fought out in concert halls throughout Europe.
