As always the non-official sponsors are trying to get their minutes of fame during the worldwide broadcasted event, where advertisements, other than those from the official sponsors, are strictly forbidden.
This, however, never means companies won’t try to reap the benefits of the immensely popular World Cup.
Lufthansa is not the official sponsor of the World Cup. Emirates Airlines is. However, they have dressed up a large number of their aircrafts to show that they are fans. Illegitimate ambush marketing? Probably not. Smart? It sure is.
